Rochester Pro-Choice Community
Says 'Shame on
Operation Save America'
April 20, 1999
The Rochester Pro-Choice Coalition will announce plans at a press
conference today to mobilize the pro-choice community in response to
Operation Save America's upcoming events in Rochester tomorrow.
"We will send a strong message to Flip Benham and his small band of
out of town followers -- Rochester supports a woman's right to choose,
gay rights and rejects violence, intimidation and terror as a way of
settling differences. These people should be ashamed of themselves,
in the wake of the brutal murder of Dr. Slepian last year the last
thing they should be doing is coming in to this community to spread
their message of hate and intolerance," stated Barbara Moore,
President of the Rochester Chapter of the National Organization for
Women.
Representatives from the Feminist Majority Foundation's National
Clinic Access Project, the oldest and largest clinic defense project
in the nation are in Rochester to support the work of the Rochester
Pro-Choice Coalition and will also be available for comment.
